I am pissed at the show Hunted, which airs on Wednesdays on CBS, ended its season. If you read my last post about Hunted, you will know how excited I was about it and how cool of a concept I think it is. Especially since everyone’s business is such public knowledge these days, you’d think it must be impossible for anyone to escape being caught by highly trained intelligence agents.

The rules that were announced early on in the show seemed fair enough; basically you have to avoid being captured for 28 days and if you complete this task successfully you win $250,000. While on the run you are only allowed to take out $500, your family has to agree to be visited and questioned and you give up all rights to privacy. Well…that’s what they said in the beginning until yesterday’s finale!

First of all, I want to remind you all that I’m rooting for #Lostwolves, although I started to get a little annoyed with them in this episode because they decided to wear suits and uncomfortable shoes when they knew they might have to be on foot. So the show comes on and I’m extra nervous for the remaining 3 groups of fugitives, because I’m invested. Then the show announces the rules for anyone who makes it to the end:

  1. The fugitives will have to log into a computer to get their final escape location
  2. They will have to go to a bank to take out the $250,000
  3. They can only go to their final location for escape…BY FOOT

WHAT?!!! First of all, why do ex-intelligence agents need this sort of help?! Basically having them log into a computer to get these instructions automatically gives the hunters their location. AND the hunters know they are going to be leaving by plane within a 100 mile radius of the bank they go to! The show basically built in last minute cheat codes for the hunters, which I think is unfair.

If they were real fugitives the hunters would not just receive so many details about how they’re planning to leave the country or escape unless the fugitives made an error in judgement which would obviously not be the case if they made it to the end of this season, right? They made it far because they stayed off the grid for the most part. So what’s the point? I kind of felt cheated. I get that it’s a reality show and there has to be some sort of suspense and plot twist, but I just feel like they made it easier on the hunters when the point of the show is that the fugitives are just ordinary people facing this tough group of top intelligence folks. Needless to say, I am a little disappointed.

I won’t ruin the ending for you, but I will say I was extremely surprised by the ending. I honestly didn’t see it coming. If you missed it you can catch the finale on CBS, here’s the preview:
